New iPad 3 Already Exceeding Expectations

Monday, March 12, 2012 2:32:33 PM America/Los_Angeles

As you must be well-aware by now, Apple unleashed their newest iPad model last week amidst a swarm of anticipation and excitement. The new model boasts a better display, camera, and wireless connection, among other new bells and whistles.

Retina display is one of the most exciting features of the new iPad. With four times more pixels than the iPad 2, razor sharp text, and richer colors, your eyes will not have to strain one bit to read on this screen. Viewing pictures, reading articles, and playing games will be that much more of a seamless experience with the new iPad display. But don’t think that because the screen is working harder, that your battery will drain down faster; the new iPad still has an awesome 10 hours of battery life!

The new iPad’s camera is also worth mentioning. It features a 5-megapixel iSight camera with advanced optics, allowing you to shoot amazing photos and 1080p HD video. What is iSight? It uses a backside illumination sensor that captures great pictures, regardless of how much light is available.

Are you ready to go full light-speed ahead? Well, that’s what the new iPad’s wireless connection will feel like. The ultra-fast 4G LTE is the latest in wireless technology, connecting you to fast data networks around the world, faster than the blink of an eye! You can browse the web, stream content, or download movies and music videos at blazing fast speeds.

The new iPad also works as a personal Wi-Fi hotspot, for the first time ever. This means you can share the high-speed data connection on your ipad with up to five devices, such as your MacBook Air, iPod touch, or even another iPad via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or USB.

And as if all of that wasn’t already enough? The app store features over 200,000 apps and counting - all of which were designed to work with iPad features like the incredible 9.7-inch screen and Multi-touch technology. The new iPad will also feature very Siri-like voice dictation, so you can send an e-mail, send a text, or search the web all with only your voice.

Now that we have thoroughly convinced you that you need to run out and buy the new iPad, we have some bad news: the initial iPad 3 shipments are already sold out and new pre-orders will be delayed at least two or three weeks from now. You can, however, continue to place your order online and receive an estimated delivery date. Models will supposedly be in stores for the new iPad’s official release this Friday, but we have a pretty good feeling this will result in extremely long lines at Apple stores across the country.

Prices for the new iPad start at $499 and go up from there depending on the size and model you choose. You can pre-order yours here today!

Adele Top Artist of 2011

Tuesday, January 3, 2012 12:15:29 PM America/Los_Angeles

AdeleAdele is definitely the artist whose music you simply could not escape from in 2011, but why would you want to? With chart-topping singles like “Rolling In The Deep” and “Someone Like You” blasting over several different radio station of various formats, you no doubt heard Adele belting out her tunes several times last year. You heard her so many times, in fact, that she had the top-selling album of 2011.

Adele’s album “21”, released by independent British label XL Recordings, sold more than 5 million copies last year. To put that in perspective for you, no artist has sold over 5 million copies of an album since 2004, when Usher’s “Confessions” album sold 7.9 million copies, according to Nielsen Soundscan

"Adele's performance this year shows the demand for great original music," Nielsen analyst David Bakula said. "Here's an artist that had moderate success before, but nothing of this magnitude, and she's doing it all on two singles."

And now that Adele is “Rolling in the Deep” in dollar, dollar bills ya’ll, her ex-boyfriends is trying to get a cut of the profits saying that he inspired her debut album, “19”, and deserves a portion of the royalties.

"For about a week he was calling and was deadly serious about it," Adele said. "Finally, I said, 'Well, you made my life hell, so I lived it and now I deserve it.'"

“19” features song titles like “Cold Shoulder” and “Melt My Heart to Stone,” so, I don't blame her one bit for not cashing him out.

Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” trails Adele with sales figures just over 2 million, while Michael Buble's festive album “Christmas” sold 1.96 million copies in 2011. Stay tuned to the BuyiJet blog for all your music news and updates!

Apple To Release Two New iPads?

Thursday, December 29, 2011 2:06:27 PM America/Los_Angeles

iPad2 Versus Kindle FireSorry to burst your bubble if you just received an iPad 2 for Christmas...

According to a report published earlier today by MacRumors, Apple is planning to release two new iPads in January. They are predicting that this big announcement will happen at the MacWorld/iWorld conference on January 26th, 2012 in San Francisco, California.

Not just one, but two, iPads are rumored to be announced; a mid-level model as well as a higher-end one. Both will have 9.7 inch displays with a 2048 x 1536 resolution, and quad-core A6 chips. The mid-level model will feature a 5 megapixel camera and the high-end one will have an 8 megapixel camera, as well as double the battery life of 14,000 milli-amperes per hour.

And according to DigiTimes, the current iPad 2 will receive a dramatic price reduction in order to compete with the 7 inch Kindle Fire that is selling for $199. We’re not sure what to think, considering DigiTime’s recent track record has been more wrong that right with their predictions.

As always, we here at BuyiJet will work to bring you the best accessories for your Apple products - no matter how many versions they come up with!

Have You Heard The Rumors? Coachella 2012

Tuesday, December 20, 2011 12:01:46 PM America/Los_Angeles

Coachella 2012 RumorsIf you haven’t already heard, Coachella is doing something completely new this year: instead of one music-packed weekend, they will produce two, identical weekends of shows back-to-back in 2012. Coachella Weekend 1 will be April 13-15, 2012 and Coachella Weekend 2 will be April 20-22nd.

Last year, Coachella stopped selling single day passes and only allowed people to purchase three-day passes for the whole weekend. Despite the huge cost difference, passes still sold out rapidly. I was among the lucky people who were able to attend last year, but I still felt it was very greedy of Goldenvoice to only allow the sale of three-days passes. Apparently adding a second weekend will allow them to  accommodate more people.

This forces me to wonder how they will manage to put on two identical weekends back-to-back. With rock star egos, the weather, and other unforeseen phenomenons, how can your guarantee the people that the two shows will be the same? Regardless of all these questions, I still purchased tickets for Weekend #1 and have been eagerly awaiting the official announcement of who is scheduled to headline, which will hopefully happen in January. Rumors are already swirling and so far, I like what I see.

Coachella Rumors 2010 (large)

No Doubt, The Shins, Florence & the Machine, Foo Fighters, Daft Punk, Radiohead, Feist, Moby, and Death Cab For Cutie are among those rumored to be headlining. We want to know, what do you think of these rumors? Which of these artists are you currently playing on your iPod or iJet NAV?

Nano ReplacementIn November, Apple began notifying their customers that they are offering a replacement program for those concerned about overheating batteries in their first-generation Nanos. In extreme cases, some of the first-generation iPods have even caught fire.

Dear iPod nano owner,

Apple has determined that, in very rare cases, the battery in the iPod nano (1st generation) may overheat and pose a safety risk. Affected iPod nanos were sold between September 2005 and December 2006.

This issue has been traced to a single battery supplier that produced batteries with a manufacturing defect. While the possibility of an incident is rare, the likelihood increases as the battery ages.

Apple recommends that you stop using your iPod nano (1st gen) and follow the process noted below to order a replacement unit, free of charge.

Apple first offered replacements to customers in South Korea in 2009 and Japan in 2010; with this announcement, they are now offering replacements on a world-wide basis.

If you, or someone you know, has a defective device, fill out the claim form to confirm you are eligible for replacement. All defective devices will be replaced within a six week period and will also have 90-day warranties. (Note: If your original iPod was personalized, Apple will not be personalizing the replacements... bummer.)

If you were hoping that your replacement would be a newer generation iPod, you are out of luck. Though the first-generation iPod Nanos have been out of production for over 5 years, the replacement units are, indeed, re-furbished, first-generation models.

Album Review: The Black Keys “El Camino”

Tuesday, December 6, 2011 12:20:00 PM America/Los_Angeles

The Black Keys: El CaminoLeave it to The Black Keys to end the year with a bang - a big, old rock n’ roll BANG. “El Camino” is the band’s seventh record chocked full of 11 songs about love, heartbreak, lust, and greed- you know, just the essentials of great rock n’ roll. People are already arguing about whether El Camino should be considered the best album of 2011 or 2012; The LA Times Music Blog, Pop & Hiss, says “both” and we couldn’t agree more.

If you’re not already intimately familiar with the Akron, Ohio duo, something is very, very wrong with you... or you don’t enjoy good music - ‘nuff said. Patrick Carney brings the beat on the drums and Dan Auerback provides the guitars and vocals; that’s right, all that sound comes from just two dudes (with the exception of the occasional backup vocals or accompaniment of course).

Being a San Diego-based company, we here at BuyiJet have had the pleasure of seeing the Black Keys perform live on multiple occasions, the most recent being the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival last summer. And let me just tell you, if you thought they brought the funk to their recorded albums, you ain't seen nuthin’ until you’ve seen them live. Watching the sweat pour down these guys’ faces as they assault your ear holes with moody rock music is right up there on my top five musical performances list - without a doubt.

“Lonely Boy” is the first single off “El Camino” and has already been blowing up the request lines at radio stations for weeks. It is currently ranked #3 on the Billboard Top Rock Songs Chart behind Bush and the Foo Fighters. Danger Mouse (a.k.a. the “not Cee-Lo Green half of Gnarls Barkley”), is back to produce the album after the stellar collaborations on their last two albums “Attack an Release” and “Brothers” went so well. The Black Keys were even nominated for a Grammy in the category of Best Rock Song in 2011 for “Tighten Up” off the “Brothers” album.

If you already know and love The Black Keys, there is no reason why you won’t love “El Camino”. They have returned with a sound that is still worthy of being compared to the great British rock of the late ‘60s and ‘70s, but with a more modern feel in the production touches. Some critics are saying they’ve taken a departure from their blusey sound, calling it “glam” with the female back-up vocals and handclaps, but we say “so what if it is glam?”, it’s still gritty, fuzzy, and rocking... it’s still music you can shake your butt to, and who doesn’t love that?

“El Camino” is a great gift for the music lover on your holiday gift-giving list. Pair it with iPod and iPhone remote controls and accessories from BuyiJet, and you will have a gift even Santa can’t compete with!

By now, you have all been notified that the contest has ended and the first 20 of you to respond have been contacted to receive your iJet NAV’s as well.

Tony Waters was our lucky grand prize winner and he will also be receiving a brand new iPod Nano!

 Check out Tony’s great story:

“I have been using an iJet Nav Elite for about 2 years now and I love it. I have mounted the remote to the handlebars of my motorcycle. Using it I can safely control my iPod Touch and listen to music, podcasts and audiobooks while traveling. I recently rode with a couple of friends from South Carolina to New Hampshire. While there we climbed the Mt. Washington Auto Road with our bikes. I was able to enjoy music over my helmet speakers while negotiating the tight turns up the mountain and know that I could pause the music at anytime without the distraction of locating controls on my iPod. See the attached picture for a view from the summit of Mt. Washington.”

Total Control With BuyiJet

Tuesday, November 29, 2011 12:38:44 PM America/Los_Angeles

Randy MalcolmHi Guys,

I use the iJet for gigs where I can adjust the music much better than with the actual ipod itself, especially volume. I keep the remote in my pocket so when an event planner or someone "important" needs me to turn the music down or stop playing background music on a break - so a speaker can begin or whatever, I don't have to run 100ft back to my bandstand. I also love to go "really, you think it's too loud" as I'm turning it down from inside my pocket. I bought the Timex Ironman ipod watch, which broke twice so far (they replaced it) but it cost over $100, worked sporadically from 10 ft, maybe, and kept both hands "tied - up" prior to successfully using ijet.
